In response to the “Statement of Principles of Occupy Harvard General Assemblies” published 11/11/11.
- If you find the 180:1 compensation ratio unjust, please propose a more just ratio and explain why it is more just.
- If you do not agree with the investment methods of the Harvard Management Company, please provide an alternative investment strategy that can create an endowment that supports your accessibility and opportunity to organize protests as Harvard students.
- Explain how your “solidarity with Occupy Boston and the other occupations throughout the country” strengthens, not weakens, your position.
- Please provide a thorough comparison of the lowest-paid Harvard occupation (including all health and external benefits) against the Massachusetts average for an equivalent position, so all of us can do a more thorough analysis of your statements, for the sake of transparency.
- Please define mainstream economics, and explain what alternative forms of “academic opportunities” would be more appropriate and accurate.
- Please cite another University that does a superior job with financial aid and debt relief.
- Please compare University demographics against US Census Data and explain at what point will Harvard be “diverse” enough.
- Will you support an admission policy that does not take legacy into consideration? What about one that hurts your chances because your parents were legacies? What about a policy that converges to 0%? (The children of legacies are smart only because we made the legacies smart, so for the sake of diversity and accessibility of Harvard to the 99%, no descendants of legacies can ever be accepted to Harvard.)
- To Occupy Harvard protestors: please state your concentration, your extracurricular activities, your parents’ occupation(s) and employer(s), breakdown of how your tuition is being paid by percentage, your total term time and summer salary, and your total annual personal expenses, for the sake of declaring conflicts of interest.
